ALL-BRITISH RIDE, 2007
The All-British Ride was held yesterday in brilliant sunshine and clear blue skies, with a record turnout of around 200 machines. The header photo of Roland Badertsther sums up the quality of the day's ride. This event is organized by the BSA club, and always has a strong draw, with riders coming in for the day from hours away, to see the great variety of makes and chat with old friends.Pic 2

49 MILE RIDE
The weather gods smiled on the 7th annual 49 Mile Ride, and we had a perfect day out, snarling up traffic and generally having a good time on the roads of San Francisco. The '49' has inadvertently morphed into the largest urban Vintage motorcycle ride in the US, which has necessitated that the Yerba Buena AMCA help organize catering and chase truck duties, and have someone at all junctions to

YERBA BUENA AMCA YOSEMITE RALLY
The Yerba Buena chapter of the AMCA hosted a rally in Groveland, CA, just outside of Yosemite National Park on Sep 23-26. The National Rallies for the AMCA are always held mid-week over three days, and I laid out the route for this one (it's fairly easy to find three days of spectacular roads in this area). Around 130 motorcycles attended, mostly Harleys and Indians, but there was a smattering

FIRST ANNUAL GIRDER FORK RUN
Pete Young,Paul Adams, and myself have been wanting to host a day ride exclusively for older motorcycles, which we named the 'Girder Fork Run', although it was open to motorcycles with leading link, leaf sprung, trailing link, paralellogram, or other non-telescopic forks. I didn't get an exact count, but around 25 machines rolled up to the Alpine Inn in Portola valley this morning, ranging in

2007 BANBURY RUN
The Banbury Run is organized by the VMCC in England, and is open to machines built beforeDec. 31, 1931, which defines the 'Vintage' period, in their terms. This year the entry was limited to 500 machines, ranging from 1897 to 1930, and they turned away hundreds more. The event is held on the grounds of a school in the eponymous town, which clearly has the capacity to park 500 motorcycles, plus a

PRE-16 RUN, ATASCADERO, Saturday
Saturday's ride wound through the hills east of Atascadero, taking in the towns of Creston, Santa Margarita, and Pozo, around 100 miles of riding through rolling hills, vineyards, wildflowers, and sometimes amazing twisty roads.Top pic shows yours truly on his mount of choice for the weekend, the '28 Sunbeam TT 90. A few of the Harley faithful expressed surprise that such a small machine could

PRE-16 RUN, ATASCADERO
The Pre-16 Run is organized by Steve Wright, who wrote the brilliant 'American Racer' books, which he in fact self-published, and which sell on ebay for a LOT of money. More recently, he wrote 'the American Motorcycle; 1869-1914', which may still be available - he's just about finished with vol.2, 1915-2000, which means he has a lot to say about really old bikes. The ride usually attracts about 30
